What is the role of the erotic in spiritual practice? Has the oppression of the feminine contributed to anti–erotic sentiments in many spiritual traditions? Can the erotic be a source of power? Audre Lorde describes the erotic as "the creative energy empowered.” It is not merely sexual but it is rooted in the senses. The erotic invites a vital connection to the body and into the feminine.* This talk will explore the place of the erotic and the feminine in our personal and collective practice. *This exploration of the feminine will acknowledge the limitations of a false gender binary while at the same time highlighting and investigating the historical and contemporary denigration of the feminine.
